What’s in a name?
A name is simply a label to distinguish something from another, but a name can translate to something special.
Why “Light A Sparke”?
Having worked in a Corporate Company for almost 30 years, the notion of a Kind Cause was to pay a certain % of the company’s earnings to Charitable Causes that would earn one the most points for B-BBEE Certification.
The rewarding feeling of having done a good deed was gone and life in the Corporate world always hectic, made one forget that kindness does not have to have a tangible or Rand Value price, or take up much time in one’s busy day. It’s off to work early, home late and work, work, work in between!
So when someone mentions they are collecting Tops and Tags in aid of a wheelchair or that Premature Babies need Beanies as there are not enough incubators in Government Hospitals, I have the tendency to jump in and get involved with the hope of getting that rewarding feeling of having done a good deed … not for any recognition, but self-gratification.
Alone, I could make a small difference, but if I could Light A Sparke and invoke a sense of contagion, with more people’s help and assistance, that Sparke could turn into a Roaring Fire and the more people involved in the Roaring Fire, the bigger the impact to the cause / initiative!
